One of the many things that make Pooh Corner so special is the continuity of care we are able to provide by maintaining the same fabulous teachers for many years, (which, in some cases means several decades). The ability to engender this level of loyalty is evidence of our family-centric philosophy and shapes our environment as an extension of the home atmosphere.
Kim

Kim Selman, Pre-K Lead Teacher and Program Director
Kim joined the Pooh Corner family in 1988 and her family has continued to join ours ever since! Four of Kim’s six children and her granddaughter have attended Pooh Corner over the past two (plus) decades. Kim holds as Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently completing courses toward her Bachelor's Degree in Administration.

Halimah Halimah AbdulHaqq, Head teacher of Transition Group
Halimah started at Pooh Corner in 1998 as a substitute, left when she became pregnant and returned with baby Raiyanah in tow to become an assistant teacher in the Transition Group. Her son Zakariya also attended Pooh Corner. She completed her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011. Halimah was co-head teacher of the Pre-K 1 Group prior to taking over the reins of head teacher in the Transition Program in 2012.

Michelle Lamb, Infant/Toddler Program Supervisor &Head Teacher , Toddler Group Michelle began working in the Infant program as an assistant teacher in 2000 at the same time that her daughter, Tynae started in our Transition Group. In 2006 she left Pooh Corner for greener pastures, but returned in 2012 to take over as head teacher of the Infant Group, where her son, Tylyr, joined her at Pooh Corner. Michelle has a Bachelor's Degree in ECE from Chestnut Hill College.

Corine

Samantha Green, Head Teacher of the Preschool Group
Samantha began her first tour of duty in 1996 as an assistant teacher in Pre-K. It was clear from the beginning that she had a gift for teaching and was a natural kid-magnet. After 7 years of wowing the children with her imaginative stories and creative teaching style, she yearned for a change and became the After School Program Director at Green Street Friends for 13 years. In 2009 she returned to Pooh as lead teacher of Transition and finally in 2013 came full circle to become the lead teacher of the Preschool group. Samantha has taken courses in education and the humanities at Temple and Chestnut Hill and has the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree.


Rose Rose O'Neill, Head Teacher of the Infant Group
Rose O'Neill began her Pooh Career in 2008 as an assistant teacher in the Infant/Toddler Group. Rose recently took over the reins as head teacher of the Infant group. Rose has a Bachelor's Degree from Penn State in the social sciences. She has 3 children of her own
Assistant Teachers
Many of our Assistant Teachers have also been with us for many years (4 of them for ten and counting). Several are currently pursuing relevant degrees in higher education, and all have chosen Pooh Corner for their children’s preschool education.
